The Captain and the Compass is for people at work, at any level, who want to read their emotions well, steady them under pressure and express them in ways that build trust with colleagues, managers and clients.
The course rests on one picture. Your working life is a sailboat on a journey, your feelings are the compass, and you are the captain who reads it. Emotional intelligence becomes five skills you practise again and again: noticing and naming emotions, examining your beliefs about them, reading them as data about your needs and values, regulating them, and expressing them well. Like any skill, it grows with practice.
You begin with My EQ Check-In, a private baseline across the five skills, and My Sailboat and My Ideal Captain. My Emotion Logbook goes with you throughout. Later you place what you did with an emotion on My Emotion Regulation Wheel, practise one strategy for two weeks in My Regulation Practice Log, and write My Sharing Statement before a difficult conversation: what you observed, what you feel, what you need and what you ask. You finish with My Emotional Intelligence Plan and take the Check-In again.
On WorkSmart4Life this course sits under Connect, the move about teams, leading and conversation. A team can also run it together with the facilitator deck. The Self-Compassion Break and the Positive Emotions Booster Plan also sit in Work Well Together, under Mindset and Positive Emotions. Start with the first module, Gauge: The Captain and the Compass, and take My EQ Check-In before anything else. A free 24-hour trial lets you try the whole course first.
