From the founder: Disagree Well — Steady, See, Say, Repair

A course under Connect, one of the four moves. An introduction by Dr Alten du Plessis, founder of WorkSmart4Life.

Disagree Well is for anyone at work who wants to meet disagreement with a colleague, a teammate or a manager in a way that keeps the working relationship and can even deepen it. It serves just as well with a partner, a friend or family.

The course follows the order in which a disagreement has to be handled: steady first, see it clearly, say it well, then repair and grow. Settling the body comes before reasoning, seeing clearly comes before speaking, and repair is treated as a skill of its own.

In Steady First, the Post-Conflict Nervous System Reset helps you notice whether your body is in fight, flight, freeze or fawn and follow a short sequence matched to that state, with guided audio. The Psychological Needs Translation Map turns a charged sentence into an observation, a feeling, a need and a request, and Feedback Without Identity Damage replaces a trait label with a behaviour you can describe. The Micro-Repair Intelligence Tracker helps you make small repairs early, and the Restorative Accountability Builder guides a fuller repair when your own actions caused the rupture. Every tool has an audio guide.

On WorkSmart4Life this course sits under Connect, the move about teams, leading and conversation. Feedback Without Identity Damage also appears in Work Well Together under Mindset, so if your team chose that block, this course takes it further. I suggest you begin with the Conflict Resilience Capacity Map in the first module: it gives you a starting picture across four areas, and you take it again at the end. A free 24-hour trial lets you try the whole course first.
